(New Improved!) Tell Congress to Increase Funding for ME Research and more

Young boy yelling into a bullhorn

"The only way to be heard is to actually speak out"

One of MEadvocacy.org’s aims is to empower ME patients and their supporters with a strong voice.  For the past three decades, these voices have been ignored. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has continuously neglected and marginalized this disease, by using overly broad definitions, trivializing disease names, and consistently underfunding research.

This has resulted in substandard care for ME patients by the medical community, leaving a generation of ME patients suffering with little hope for the future. Unconscionably, the upcoming generation of patients are facing the same issues as 30 years ago.

We must go over HHS' heads directly to Congress. Tell your Congressional representatives - we have had enough of this abuse. NO MORE!

To make the process easier, we have created a pre-written letter, which you can view in the One Click form below. Simply fill out the form, and click the blue “Sign” button. The app will look up your zip code and send the letter to your representatives.

Note: If you're reading this on the home page, you may have to click on the title of this article to go to the Blog to see the One Click form - sorry for any confusion.

New Improved Letter and Deadline Extended!

With the help of one of our experienced volunteers, we've revised and improved our letter. We've also extended the deadline for an indefinite period.

Even if you've already signed the old letter, feel free to sign this new one too!

Note: The form is for US addresses only.

If you’re not in the US, feel free to sign the Global Solidarity Petition at MEaction.net. There is also a US petition for funding equality. http://www.meaction.net/funding-equality-petition/

To see how many signers the letter has, go to the direct code – https://oneclickpolitics.com/promo/UN. Each letter is sent to your three reps. So multiply the number of signers by three to get the number of letters sent.

If you’re having trouble, please follow the instructions in green text. I need to know your device, operating system, and browser. And what the error is. Also try the alternate link. Thank you.

Not working and the iPhone splits the screen. Would love it if signing petitions was easier-like the ones from change.com. Thanks!

I inputted everything correctly and have tried about 10 times. I am from the U.S., in Dinuba CA 93618. I am using Google Chrome for a browser. It says 500, error message. The majority of when I tried signing it I did not check the box to sign up for alerts b/c I already am signed up. But, I think I also tried it w/ the box checked a couple times to see if it’d make a difference. I think, when working, that this is a really awesome tool to help make a difference!

I can’t hang on much longer myself. A nightmare at 35; impossible at 60 to care for myself. Why do I even try? 30 years of still arguing about the name! Ask any of us: WE. DON’T. CARE! Fix the illness, not the damn name!

I have been ill 20 years now. Long ago, I had faith that a cure or at least a treatment would be found any day. Now I feel as I will die with this illness, never able to remember what feeling good feels like again. I have lost all hope. I give up.
